Who we are and What we do...
Central Plumbing and Sheetmetals (CPS) originally started as just Central Sheetmetals way back in 1982, owned and operated by Taupo local Gary Jenkins. Over the last 35 years, the company has gone from strength to strength, not only providing all aspects of commercial and domestic stainless steel fabrication and light engineering requirements throughout the Taupo region. In 2014 we expanded to Christchurch Plumbing, but also to encompass plumbing and drainage divisions in both Taupo and Christchurch.
CPS has years of experience in a wide range of commercial and industrial projects and our greatest strength is our staff—with well over 100 years combined experience there is no one more knowledgeable than us! Check out our Gallery for an idea of the sort of work we can do for you.
Our sheetmetal engineers are acknowledged master craftsmen, providing fine workmanship and attention to detail. They can take care of any of your sheet metal and light engineering needs, and their history and experience makes them the go-to men for any unusual or difficult jobs - they relish the challenge! Our team of licensed, qualified plumbers' depth of experience across a wide range of plumbing and drainage projects is a strength they bring to all jobs they attend, no matter how big or small. And we turn up when we say we will!
CPS also has a rigorous Health and Safety culture, having achieved the difficult ACC Level 3 accreditation. Along with our in-house QA systems, our comprehensive H&S policies mean you can relax when CPS is on the job. With our extensive experience on commercial sites and large projects, you can also have the confidence our team know what to do and how to it properly.

Gary Jenkins Owner, General manager
Originally trained as a mechanic but when the opportunity came to buy an existing but rundown sheetmetal business back in 1982, Gary saw a challenge he couldn't resist, and Central Sheetmetals was born. He retains that entrepreneurial instinct, hence the evolution of the company to the present day. Gary is now pretty handy around the workshop having picked up a few skills over the last 35 years, but his main focus is running the business, liaising with clients to scope and quote jobs and keeping the rest of us in order (or is that the other way round??).
Dean Fox Sheetmetal foreman
Dean has been with us since the very beginning. He is a man of few words but his work speaks for itself - quality craftsmanship, every time. Dean particularly enjoys working on boats and cars, and finding elegant solutions to any challenging custom work. He's also a keen diver and fisherman - sometimes he even brings us back a few crays or scallops!
Daniel Hay 2iC sheetmetal workshop
Dan joined us from a school Gateway programme over 10 years ago and we are still counting our lucky stars. Another man of few words but he's following in Dean's footsteps with his exemplary work ethic and attention to detail. No surprises to us that he topped his class in his apprenticeship...
Mana Gibbs Fabrication Engineer
When Mana moved to Taupo we jumped at the chance to employ him, knowing his hard-working habits and problem-solving abilities would be an asset to the workshop. Mana comes from a general and automative engineering background and can turn his hand to pretty much anything that comes that way. He's also the tallest in the sheet metal workshop (not especially difficult around here).
Noel McMahon Licensed Plumber
Since completing his apprenticeship in 1993, Noel has had a steady career plumbing and drain laying across a huge range of domestic and commercial projects. His unflappable approach combined with a great sense of humour (not to mention a laugh like a machine gun!) make him a very, very valued member of our team. Keeps the local bakeries happy too.
Adriano Novello Christchurch Foreman/CP
Our South African 'Italian', Adriano moved to New Zealand with his family in 2014 to run the show for us in Christchurch. He looks after a wide range of commercial and housing projects from whoa-to-go, always cheerful, extremely hardworking and with amazing attention to detail. He is also the All Blacks' biggest fan - we thought he might actually faint when we told him he would be doing the plumbing for Steve Hansen's new house...
Admin - the Dream Team!
Jenkins & Daughters...as we are a family team, Gary's daughters Emma and Sophie help run the office (the guys know when to put their earplugs in when we all start arguing!). We also have the very capable and well-organised Weronika Williams to keep us all in line (and teaches us Polish swear words).
